Hi
Happy New Year... I hope your Christmas was as relaxing as mine. The Band and I took 3 weeks off to regenerate the batteries and get on with a few other commitments. My other commitments included eating mince pies and watching old films. Now I'm just watching old mince pies as I bought hundreds of the things and am sick of the sight of them.
Well, once again I was disappointed Santa didn't leave a vintage '52 Fender Telecaster under the tree for me, but the black sock and binoculars (?!) were ample consolation and you can be sure I will be modelling them on stage soon. The socks, dummy, not the binoculars... though it would be an interesting new image.
I did a gig at my local, The Rosendale, on New Years Day; which may not have been a smart move. I was still a little 'tired' from the festivities the night before, but I gave it my all and I'm absolutely certain that he enjoyed the show. 'He' being the sole punter in the pub. The only man in Dulwich of such constitution that he could face a pint on New Year's Day.
Well, The Band is busy working on the new album, which is shaping up to be the greatest record of all time. No, really. It's funny how amplified your feeling are about songs when you have invested so much emotional energy and time into them. At the moment I feel like it's going to be a classic... in truth, time gives you a better perspective and 'classics' tend to be demoted to 'very good'... but at least we are starting at the top with superlatives. There's no question it will be our best yet and we're genuinely very excited about it.
My commitments with The Band over January and February are limiting my solo shows for the time being, with only a gig at the Kolebka in Southampton on Friday February 3rd in the near future... but this will pick up so check out new dates on the gigs page.
So that's it for now... more soon... have a great 2006!
Adam
