Confessions Of A Guitar Teacher
June 2005

Hi

Thanks again for clicking on to my website... new and views are a bit late this month as I have had bugger all to say ("so what's new?" I hear you ask... and you'd be right). But my web man implored me to put something down, so here it is.

The boys and I did a couple of great gigs last week - including one on Southsea Sea Front for about 2,500 people... there were people waiting for the entertainment in their little tents on the grassy bank facing the sea when we turned up so we chuckled to ourselves wondering if, for the first time, people had been camping out from the night before in order to get the best view to see the Mustangs... but judging from their reaction during the show they hadn't a clue who we were... or where they were.

In many ways it's less daunting playing to a large number of people than doing an intimate show in a pub... you don't really see any faces grimacing and can't hear the snidey asides or insults... except from Ben and Derek of course. I dread to think what Jon is mouthing behind my back.

We have some good shows coming up including the Festival of the Sea in Portsmouth, which promises to be our biggest show yet - and the Rowland's Castle Village fete, which doesn't. There are some other good gigs dotted about here and there for the band so check out our website here.

I'm doing my first full length solo show in London for years on July 7th at the Gipsy Hill Tavern - entry is free and I promise a night of spills, thrills and chills for those who come along. If I don't deliver, you can have your money back. It may be the only place that night where you will hear songs by Muddy Waters and Abba alongside each other.

Other projects on the go at the moment are Memory Vine, my next solo CD that seems to be taking forever due to other commitments... the new Definitive Sound single, Life on Hold (more next month!)... songwriting with the redoubtable Dr J... a musical based on our favourite superhero (more next month, I tells ya) and - of course - guitar teaching.

As I proudly watched 6 year old Alex successfully play his first tune on the guitar I asked the sweet little blonde, blue eyed fella what he wants to call his first band when he grows up...

"The Scum", he replied, as he picked out the last line of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

More confessions of a guitar teacher next month...

Adam
