Weaning The Kids Off Band Boy Rockers
April 2005

Hi

Welcome back to my website - presuming you are here on purpose and haven't just happened across it. I gather my mother is the only person who actually reads this so, if you're reading mum, I can't make lunch on Sunday but thanks for the washing and... I confess.... it was me not my sister who broke the expensive china parrot by playing tennis in the house all those years ago. There, now you know.

Anyway, moving on - March was a quietish month on the solo gigs front as I have started work on my new solo CD, in between gigs with the Mustangs. April will be much the same, with only the Mash Tun in Winchester on the 9th scheduled thus far.

I'm pretty happy with the stuff i've written so far for my new CD - I have played some of the songs live and they've gone down very well, which is always encouraging when you do new stuff. Many's the time I have introduced a new song only for it to be met with a deafening silence at the song's end... needless to say lot of these ones don't make it past the gig... but generally I think punters are quite open to hearing new original stuff - especially if they 'trust' you - ie have seen you before, know you can sing and play etc... a few very lovely people have often come up to myself or the band and actually said they prefer my/our stuff to the covers we throw in. That's a wonderful thing to hear, especially if you see them buying copies of the CD later that night - mainly because if they don't we usually have to hitchhike home.

I'm busy teaching as always and have a head full of Busted and McFly riffs... anyone who says rock is dead is a fool - but I am slowly starting to throw in the odd Zeppelin riff in my lessons... hoping to wean the kids off the boy band rockers and on to the hard stuff soon. Mind you, I've already heard a couple of McFly licks I want to rip off for my new CD. Hope their lawyers aren't watching...

I'll pop by on Thursday mum to pick up the washing.

Adam
